History

BEFORE

The AIDA association was created in 1988, but only began to have a significant activity from 2004 when it took over the magazine “Courrier de la Planète”. This Magazine, dedicated to global issues, sustainable development and international solidarity, was created by the SOLAGRAL association in 1989. Solagral, (birthdate 1981), entered into a growth crisis which led it to file for bankruptcy in 2004, following financial management errors. Solagral lived 23 years and now rests in peace (1981-2004).

From 2004 to 2012 AIDA published the Courrier de la Planète. The Association then continued its work as a scientific and transfer publisher by editing Regards sur la Terre from 2006 to 2015. These are the joint annual reports of the IDDRI (Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations) and of the AFD (French Development Agency).

The Association has also organized other scientific and transfer editions with CIRAD (Centre for International Cooperation in Agronomic Research for Development), IAMM (Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Montpellier) and various books for the collection of the Belin editor.

NOW

From 2018, scientific publishing and transfer activities marked time, and the association entered a new period… It engaged in programs of what we called “embedded research” (pragmatic and strategic) on agri-environmental issues – mainly in the Balkan region. The group that gives this new direction to the Association is made up of individuals with often had old and diverse experiences in this complex region whose vocation is to join the European Union or are already part of it. Without wanting to fall into the category of “experts”, but with multiple field experiences in this region, we carry out knowledge brokerage and mediation work for agro-environmental strategies. It is from our training in agricultural and environmental issues (at different scales) and with social science analysis techniques that we pursue research, training and action in this part of Europe. These activities are often complementary to other professional activities.
